i OS isn't the latest version of i OS anymore, but that doesn't mean some of you aren't still running it and may benefit from jailbreak instructions. Here's our archive of the i OS jailbreaking process. Music by Adrian Holovaty UPDATE: This guide is out of date. See our always up-to-date guide to jailbreaking your i Phone, i Pod touch, and i Pad for the current instructions. Greenpois0n currently works on Windows and Mac, but the video depicts the Mac version. Nonetheless, you can follow the same steps if you're using a Windows PC The video above will show you how the whole process works, both on your computer and your i OS device, but here are the steps: Connect your i OS device to your computer. It's always good to back it up before jailbreaking in case something goes wrong, but before you get started with the jailbreak you'll want to quit i Tunes. Download Greenpois0n and open it up. Press the jailbreak button as soon as you're ready. Once the process starts, you'll only have 5 seconds to get in position. Hold down the sleep button at the top of your i OS device for 3 seconds. Once the 3 seconds have passed, start holding down the home button without letting go of the sleep button. Do this for 10 seconds. After the 10 seconds have passed, let go of the sleep button but continue holding down the home button for about another 10 seconds. Once the Greenpois0n logo appears in the window on your computer, you can let go. Wait for the jailbreak to complete. It'll finish on your computer first and the button that formerly read Jailbreak! will now read Complete! Click that to exit Greenpois0n. You can now disconnect your i OS device from your computer. Your i OS device will take some time to boot. It might need to boot twice. Once it does, you should find a new application on your homescreen called Loader. Open that up, and if the jailbreak was 100% successful you'll see.

Thanks to i Phone OS 3.0's ability to access the i Pod framework, the uber-popular jailbroken i Phone music app Tune Wiki has finally made its way into the App Store, and the best part is, it's free! Tune Wiki is a full-featured music-related app that's main selling point is its ability to display nearly any song's lyrics.  It doesn't just display the lyrics, however, it also intelligently follows along as the song plays.  Lyrics can be translated to over 4o different languages as well. The fun doesn't stop there. Tune Wiki also has loads of other features, including the ability to listen to radio stations via Shoutcast, display radio lyrics, purchase the songs you are listening to, search for music videos, real-time top 50 charts, skins, and more.  It even has a few social networking features, like interactive music maps and the ability to share the music you’re listening to on Facebook and Twitter. Tune Wiki is now available in the App Store for free, and it's free because it is ad-supported.  This one is definitely worth a try for any looking for a great lyrics app. We are going to keep the focus on music with a chance to win a free download code for Jukebox.  To win a download code for Jukebox, simply leave a relevant comment about this post or about Jukebox itself. The winner will be chosen randomly at the end of the day today (end of the day means 11:59 PM ET). Download codes are only redeemable through US i Tunes accounts.  Please remember to include your correct email address so we can contact the winner.
