Fairly old unit, so I suspect Win8 has no drivers for it. Does it show up as unknown device in device manager? Likely been no updated drivers from the manufacturer since XP. I had the same problem with a Belkin USB Skype device. No drivers since Vista and no 64bit drivers period. Was able to force Win7 to use the Vista drivers, but now that I'm at Win8 64bit nothing. Too bad it was a great piece of hardware.
